MAJOR GENERAL DANIEL E. LONG, JR.

Commander, 29th Infantry Division

Major General Daniel E. Long, Jr. assumed command of the 29th Infantry Division (Light) in August 2002. Prior to this assignment, General Long was Deputy Commander, 29th Infantry Division (L).

Major General Long was commissioned a second lieutenant, Corps of Engineers, upon graduation from the Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia in September 1967. Previous assignments include a broad range of staff positions at battalion, brigade and State Headquarters, and command at every level. He served as Deputy Commander Multi-National Division North (MND-N) in Bosnia (SFOR 10), is a graduate of the U.S. Army Ranger and Air Assault schools.
